Blackberry on a P910i

Yes, it is now possible!
A few things to note first of all. THIS IS NOT OFFICALLY SUPPORTED!. I have it working with a Vodafone SIM with blackberry.net APN enabled and a Vanilla P910i using the Web Client Software.

First download this zip file from Sony Ericsson.
Once you unzip the file, you will need to install the .sis file onto your P910i.
The file is only unpacked, so you will need to go to the Application Menu of your phone, and select Applications -> Install and select Blackberry.
When the software runs, select Instant Email. You will now see the Blackberry icon flashing. Press the OFF button on the software to stop the Blackberry from trying to connect to GPRS.
Now open your Control Panel, select the Connections tab, and in here select Internet Accounts. Highlight BWC Blackberry.Net and select Edit, then Advanced and then rename the Address to blackberry.net
Turn your phone off and then back on. Hopefully now you should connect to the Blackberry server (Blackberry logo shouldn’t be flashing).
Go back into the Blackberry software and select Blackberry -> Register Now. This should tell the blackberry webserver your PIN and IMEI number.
Now on the internet with your computer visit http://mobileemail.vodafone.net/ and setup a new account.
If possible get your mail provider to Forward emails to the vodafone email address, instead of accessing it via POP3.
You should now have Blackberry working on your phone.

Points to note
You need Blackberry enabled on your account
You need a certain firmware version CXC16204x R2A17
This “should” work for other operators, but check what the APN needs to be to talk to Blackberry.
For more instructions on setting up an Enterprise Blackberry connect, read this post on HowardForums

Update – 23rd August 2005
The latest version of the software 2.54.4 works with CDA162005/3 R5A02
You can download it from here:

Update – 24th January 2006
Looks like this no longer works on Vodafone UK. PINs seem to be blocked for the P910’s 🙁

Update – 26th July 2006
Actually have this working again (for some months). If you have an Enterprise server, you’ll get around the PIN blocking. Vodafone have also decided not to support this software at all and it looks like they won’t support it for the M600i and the P990i.

New LibDemBlog Rules

For those who don’t visit the About page daily, just a couple of small changes.

Posts with longs words are now ignored (the word limit is current 70), most times these are really long URLs or tables which your feed has removed the tags, but not added any spaces.

People who don’t post anything for 60 days, will find their name being removed from the BlogBox, as nobody likes an out of date link. At the moment this process is done part manually, part automatically. (The list of when you last posted is created by the computer, so I don’t have to trawl through every blog, but the switch to turn you on or off is manual). So don’t be alarmed that your blog hasn’t been turned back on straight away.
The autochecker also lets me know who’s blog is crashing the site, so if your site goes down for a while, you may find it might take a while for it to reappear on LibDemBlogs.

If at any time you do find your site missing, and your site is fine, posts have short words and you’ve posted within the last two days, feel free to contact me to get them switched on.

[email protected] – please don’t send personal correspondence to this address, as it is filtered for LibDemBlog issues only.

Lincoln Enhancer

Lincoln EnhancerThis post has been done for one of three reasons. Firstly I’ve been working on a way to upload my pictures from my mobile, direct to my blog. I’ve now got something working via Opera, which takes a GIF, JPEG or PNG and re-sizes it to either 200 or 430 pixels wide for me, stores it in the image directory, and renames the file for me. So the picture was a test.
The reason for picking the picture was that I just found it again lying about on my phone. Will sent it to me a while ago, after seeing it at a station or somewhere.
Finally, I felt that after three seasons maybe the Imps might just need some of this. [Begins to duck and cover].

cnps.it

CNPS Italian [CS 179 NC]This is mainly a question for Will, but others feel free to comment.
We are currently in Italy on a lovely weeks holiday, safe in the knowledge that finding a UK number plate was almost impossible. However as the picture shows, the Italians have CNPS style plates.
So do we count any plates found in Italy, or wait until we come home to carry on?

No 24 Spoilers Here, Sorry

Back in August 2004, I made this post “Major ’24’ spoilers revealed“.
Today, I am currently 9th on Google for the search 24 spoilers. It must be a real disappointment for all those who have visited the page (661 this month, 2035 this year), as it only contains a link to a site which is on about episodes 1 and 2.
As somebody who gets sent a copy each week from America, and are currently waiting for this Mondays episode to arrive, I’m guessing that the episode was a big one, as the number of people visiting my blog was up by 200% yesterday.

I was tempted to edit the page, and add fake spoilers, but then realised that what ever I said would be a spoiler for those who are watching it on Sky One, or are awaiting the DVD.
All I will say, is that Day 4 is a great as all the others, but even more over the top with it’s story lines.

For those of you who want to post about the current season of 24, please do it
here ( ), if you want to comment about this post, please follow the normal comment link below.

Oldham Stay Up

Oldham managed to win today, so they’ll be staying in League 1 for another season.
The season didn’t start well, then suddenly wins were appearing, they started to look good. But it’s Oldham, so the losses began again and the manager went. New manager, but still no real results and relegation was on the cards. One game left, if they won they wouldn’t need to worry about any other result, they would be safe, and somehow Oldham pulled it off today.
Now if only Lincoln win the playoffs we can see the Latics play at Sincil Bank.
