Two seasides and a wedding

Having spent the week in Blackpool, me and Heather shot straight to Presthaven Sands in Prestatyn, North Wales to meet my brother. We spent Thursday and Friday there. The sand dunes were lovely and it was a chance to catch up with our sleep. We also managed a trip to Chester.
Then on Saturday morning we headed of to my Mum’s with Luke in the car, to go to Matt and Jane’s wedding in Dunstable and the reception at Whipsnade Zoo.
Finally on Sunday afternoon we drove back to Lincoln. All in all, we spent a week driving just under 700 miles. Luckily for both of us we’re insured on each others cars.

The ups and downs of politics

A story about the leadership, policy or fringes?
Nope, the best freebie so far. Blackpool Pleasure Beach, courtesy of Meridan TV.
With nothing for them to film at Conference, they opted for soundbites from young people whilst going on themepark rides.
First was the Pepsi Max Big One which we needed to go on twice in a row for the cameras. Next was a ride called Spin Doctor, not sure why they wanted for us to go on it, but I was the only one brave enough. Finally there was the dogems, which are always fun.
After the cameras left, we were free to go on the rest of the rides and with it being out of season we had no queus.
In theory we’ll be on TV Sunday lunch time, so if you live on the south coast, or know how to manually tune in your Sky box, you might get to see me having fun.

‘New Peter Kay’ on Perrier list

I feel sorry for the 5 Perrier nominees, and especially Jason Manford. The snippet on the BBC website says

A stand-up comic hailed as a successor to Peter Kay is among the nominees for this year’s Perrier Comedy Award.

Who exactly? Why can’t they name him where he is due credit? Only opening the story do we find out what his name is.
Personally I hope Chris Addison wins, but that’s because he’s the only one of the lot I’ve seen live before.

Harry Potter

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood PrinceBeen a while since I’ve done any reviews, and I’ve read quite a few books.
Over the next few days, I’ll try and post some more, however today Harry Potter.
The new book was ok. I read it within 24 hours, but I’m finding the stories a bit repetitive and predictable. Don’t want to give away any spoilers, but surely everyone guessed who would die (and why are the press blocked from leaking plot lines, yet Ms Rowling can give away really big ones?) I suppose we’ll just be waiting around 3 years for it to be finally finished. Will JK kill off Harry in the final book? I think she will, but it’s going to be a while until we find out.

Heather Quinton in Heather and Quinton

Heather in HeatherYesterday me and Heather went on one of our drives.
We headed down the A1, and turned off towards Melton Mowbray. Looking at the map Heather realised that we weren’t too far away from Heather, it’s somewhere we’ve mentioned before and said we would visit.
Upon arriving in Heather, we discovered that it was their Scarecrow Festival, so we had a wander around looking at the local efforts.
Having visited Heather, next stop had to be Quinton.

Heather in QuintonWe had two choices, Quinton in Northamptonshire or Quinton in the West Midlands. We opted for Quinton in Northamptonshire as this just meant driving down the M1.
Quinton was less exciting than Heather, however it was very picturesque.
Unfortunately looking at maps we can’t find Ryan, but we can find a Cullen, the only slight problem is the drive.
