The Stars’ Tennis Balls

The Stars' Tennis BallsSpending a night in A&E gives you a good chance to read so when Heather went home to get my stuff, I got her to pick up the only book I could remember that was on my book shelf that I hadn’t read.
First starting the book it felt quite a bit like The Liar, which was a good read from Stephen Fry. However not too long into the book the plot line felt even more familiar, to the point where I was sure I had read the book before. Then I realised that this book is a really crap rip-off of the The Count of Monte Cristo a book which I spent a year reading and really enjoyed. So by this point I knew what was going to happen. In the end the book was just a let down. Shame on you Mr Fry! 0/10

Time to go metric?

Have just seen a trailer for Richard and Judy. They mentioned that a clothes shop is modelling their swimwear in size 12. Judy in mock shock said “What no size zero?”. And this is my big problem about the current debate over clothes sizes. TV shows and presenters seem to swap between UK sizes like 10s and 12s with the US size of zero as if they are on the same scale. Also some seem to represent zero as having no waist at all.
So is it time for clothes makers across the globe to sell clothes based on waist sizes in centimetres?

Debrand your P990i / M600i / W950i

Jan 2008 UpdateThe new EASY and FREE method is here, which also works on the W960 and the P1.

Jun 2007 Update – Feel like doing it the hardway and for FREE? New step by step guide for the P990 and M600 here!

Got Vodafone, o2 or Orange branding on your Sony Ericsson smartphone? Slightly annoyed that those who have the Generic version have had several firmware updates, whilst your service provider has limited the functions of the phone? Well now you can change the phones version to the generic one via USB on your own PC for only €6.
Now I can’t confirm that it actually works, nor does anything I say mean that I’m liable, however these people on esato and these on my-symbian are extremely happy.
Remember any action you take on your phone is completely your own choice. If you’re not 100% confident then DON’T do it.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Perform a back-up of your phone via the PC Suite (or however you prefer)
  2. Download KulanKendiClient.exe
  3. Give it a try to ensure that it runs on your computer.
  4. Purchase a credit for €6 (you only need one)
  5. Sit back and wait for KK to contact you with your username and password (you may have to wait 24 hours and weekends don’t count, be patient)
  6. Run the software
  7. Turn off your phone, hold down the C button (or back button if you can find C), plug the phone into the PC via the USB cable. (Don’t worry if it thinks your M600 or W950 are P990s)
  8. Tick change CDA and enter CDA162007/1 (P990i) or CDA162011/1 (M600i) or CDA162014/1 (W950i)
  9. DON’T tick anything else!
  10. Press Flash Phone
  11. Wait a short while
  12. Turn the phone back on. You should now have an extra CDA.
  13. Wipe your phone via the hidden service menu. Up * Down Down * Down * -> Format internal disk
  14. Run the Sony Ericsson Update Service, you should now see that you have a Generic World One phone. Hit the Update Phone button and follow the on-screen instructions.
  15. Wait 10-20 minutes
  16. Turn the phone back on. Bingo phone is now brandless.

Hope this helps those who are stuck, or have been visiting this blog looking for the answers.

Updates
7th March 2007 – I can now confirm that this works after testing it on a friends phone.

MyBlogLog and Gravatar

Just reading the MyBlogLog Blog and have discovered that they’ve been swallowed up by Yahoo! Hopefully new servers and stuff should mean that they have less downtime and better spam filters. Then whilst wandering about the web I noticed the Gravatar is back up and running, although as much as the claims about servers being better I’m noticing the image display to be a bit slow. However if you don’t have a Gravatar account already get one. It really helps give you a sense of identity on the web when posting on LibDemBlogs or even comments on most blogs these days.

Ouch!!!

OuchWarning when walking down streets. Watch out for falling roof slates. They hurt, hurt lots. Not only that but they can cause a large amount of blood to appear.
Yesterday as I just left the doctors surgery a roof slate fell off of a house on Portland Street and straight on to my head. Blood was everywhere, we run into the Sun Cafe where kind staff, volunteers and locals called for an ambulance and kept pressure on the wound.
The ambulance staff got me to A&E quickly, and after spending 1.5 hours waiting a doctor examined me. Turned out that the cut which was first expected to be about 1-2cm turned out to be 10, I needed nine stitches and have wrecked a t-shirt from the massive blood stain.
I was kept in overnight and got almost no sleep as between the nurse checking my blood pressure every hour an old lady kept shouting in her sleep.
In the morning I was allowed to leave, but have to return next week for a check-up.

Perplex City

Truthly I’ve never heard of this before, however £100,000 has just be won in a cryptic treasure hunt.
What caught my eye was the winner is Andy Darley, a name which rang a bell. Now whilst I can’t confirm that it is the same one, his site does have Perplex City ads and used to run a Perplex City Card Swap.
If it is the same one, well done!
Two more seconds of detective work pretty much confirm that it is the same one, as the winners username is astro_random, which matches that of one on Andy’s website.
