iMP

Not a post about the Lincoln Football Team, but about the BBC Interactive Media Player.
I blogged about this back in December last year, and am now the 14th result on Google for Interactive Media Player.
Today I got my trial invite 🙂
Not sure if it was from the email I sent months ago, or the comment I left on the BBC stand at Federal Conference, however I’ve now got it up and running on my computer.
Finally I can get to watch those missed episodes of Spooks, or the new comedy on BBC Three that we can’t get without an aerial upgrade.
Will comment later on quality, just waiting for The Thick of It to download.

Nottingham Beer Festival

On Saturday I staffed at the Nottingham Beer festival with the Young Camra lot, and I actually discovered that it’s a lot of fun.
You get a free half pint glass, a free t-shirt and 2.5 pints of free beer.
However as you have people asking “which is the best”, or “can I have a really hoppy one” of course you need to trial a small sample of all the beers 🙂
I ended up spending 5 hours behing the bar, hurt my legs from the bending up and down but did manage to get drunk.

LibDemBlog Stuff

As I guessed there have been troubles since DataFlame switched my sites to a new server. The main problem seems to be that my cron jobs aren’t running. The cron job is used to generate the half hourly versions of LibDemBlogs, so if it hasn’t updated for a while it’s because I’ve not manually poked it.
I’ve also modified the code slightly so that it only shows posts that were posted before now. This means that “future” posts are ignored. If you find these are your, please make sure that you date settings are set to either GMT or BST.

The West Wing

The new season (7) of the West Wing began on Sunday in America, and having just watched the latest episode it’s great.
Was rather worried about the spoiler beginning, but in the end it doesn’t give too much away.
Looking forward to the next 21 episodes and discovering who will be the next President of the United States.

Two seasides and a wedding

Having spent the week in Blackpool, me and Heather shot straight to Presthaven Sands in Prestatyn, North Wales to meet my brother. We spent Thursday and Friday there. The sand dunes were lovely and it was a chance to catch up with our sleep. We also managed a trip to Chester.
Then on Saturday morning we headed of to my Mum’s with Luke in the car, to go to Matt and Jane’s wedding in Dunstable and the reception at Whipsnade Zoo.
Finally on Sunday afternoon we drove back to Lincoln. All in all, we spent a week driving just under 700 miles. Luckily for both of us we’re insured on each others cars.

I am an Anorak

I'm a political anorak
The BBC today called me an anorak, of this I am proud.
It at least shows that they are either reading my blog, or more likely my LibDemBlog site.
To answer their questions

One internet blog from a conference visitor – if not a windup – details the excitement he experienced driving to conference.

Nope it’s not a windup, if the journalist wants to follow my progress, top right of this page shows how far I’ve got, alternatively my CNPS tracker site will help.

How on earth can Charles Kennedy compete with that once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Hopefully it won’t be a once-in-a-lifetime moment, as I’ll beat that “record” before I finish.
As for Charles, I’m sure the birth of baby Douglas would easily compete.
Thanks to Will for the tip-off. Just a shame the BBC didn’t link to me!
