My earliest political memory is at the age of 9 being informed that Margaret Thatcher had thrown in the towel and resigned as Prime Minister.
I then proceeded to run around the school field in celebration.
My first political memory is TBW being elected.
I remember her resigning too – I was on my way to an interview for a place at Imperial College and passed an Evening Standard seller. So I bought a copy and handed it the interviewer. We had a nice chat about how she’d screwed up higher education and then he offered me a place!
