This has to be my book of the year. It was lovely from start to finish, and I enjoyed reading the some 800 pages.
After buying this book on a whim from Amazon, once I started, I found it hard to put down. The narration is great, and the whole book feels like it must be factually correct. I’m now certain that if I was to visit Newcastle, that remains of the Raven Kings lands would still be visible.
A Harry Potter for the older generation? Nope! A unique book which doesn’t go on and on about previous plot line, and over the top descriptions.

I certainy agree that this is the best book I have read this year. The way Ms Clark writes is is exeptional and the enticement of this book prevents you from reading any other, while you are reading it.
However I dont understand why everyone says it is a adult book I am only 14 and I wizzed through it. If a 14 year old who goes to a comprehesive can read it then can it really be classed as only an adult book?

At the age of 14, I was constantly reading books aimed for adults, but I’m guessing the size, and the lack of young, easy to emphasise with characters will make any book more likely to be described as an adult book.
